Form matters

A few recent apps are interesting because they apply the form of one experience to another domain

Minders looks like a feed based social media app. But it’s private and for journaling.

Gibberish uses a chat message UI but for drafting blog posts

Both cases try to back your brain into applying the context of the one thing to the other

I am finding Gibberish interesting for taking notes

Each thought (thread) is the topic of the note. and then I just append to it.

This is sticking more, currently, than using Minders. Which is a similar idea. The similarity is that there is only one place to add text. To the end.

But I like how there are discrete threads in Gibberish, rather than a single feed in Minders. I could use threading there, but right now I want things separate.

I think it’s more about constraints

Only being able to append to a thread is liberating

It’s only about input, it doesn’t afford editing

And it affords bite sized thoughts for better or worse. Not complete paragraphs usually.

Kinda like typewriter mode. That seems like a similar hack
